About this tool
The image compressor shrinks the file size of JPG, PNG and WebP images while keeping them looking as good as possible. Drag the quality slider and watch the resulting size update live, so you can find your own balance between "sharp" and "smaller".
The usual pain: a single photo is several MB, emails bounce, uploads crawl, web pages lag. Compression often takes a few MB down to a few hundred KB with almost no visible difference. It all runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded — which is ideal for sensitive or private images.
How to use
- Upload or drop one or more images; the tool shows each file’s original size.
- Drag the quality slider to preview the result and see the estimated compressed size.
- If helpful, switch the output format (e.g. PNG to the smaller WebP).
- When satisfied, click download to save the compressed images locally.
When to use it
- Getting under an attachment or upload size limit for email, chat or cloud drives.
- Preparing images for a website or blog so pages load faster and use less bandwidth.
- Trimming bulky phone photos before archiving them to save space.
- Meeting a "must be under N KB" rule on forms and registration systems.
FAQ
Will compression make my image blurry?
At medium-to-high quality the difference is hard to see; only very low settings cause visible blockiness and blur. Watch the preview as you drag the slider to find the sweet spot between quality and size.
Can PNG be compressed too?
Yes. PNG is lossless so pure recompression saves less; if you don’t need transparency, converting it to JPG or WebP usually shrinks the file far more.
Can I hit a specific KB target?
The tool shows the resulting size live, so adjust quality until it falls under your target. If it’s still too big, also reduce the pixel dimensions to drop the size further.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser; images are never sent to a server.
