About this tool

This Word/Excel viewer opens common office documents in your browser without installing Office. Word (.docx) files are turned into readable rich text or Markdown, while Excel (.xlsx/.xls) and CSV spreadsheets render as a table and can be exported to CSV.

It is handy for quickly viewing a document someone sent on a computer without Office, turning Word content into Markdown for your notes, or converting an Excel sheet to CSV for another system. Files are parsed locally and never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Click or drag to select a .docx, .xlsx, .xls or .csv file.
  2. A Word document can switch between Rich text and Markdown views.
  3. Excel/CSV is shown as a table; multiple sheets switch via a dropdown.
  4. Click copy or download to export as HTML / Markdown / CSV.

When to use it

  • View a Word/Excel file someone sent on a device without Office.
  • Convert a Word document to Markdown for a blog or notes.
  • Export an Excel sheet to CSV for a database or another tool.
  • Quickly preview an attachment without launching heavy office software.

FAQ

Will a complex Word layout be reproduced perfectly?

Text, headings, lists, bold/italic and tables convert well; very complex layouts, text boxes and word-art may differ. The tool focuses on content preview and conversion, not pixel-perfect layout.

Does it support the old .doc format?

It mainly supports .docx (the modern Word format). For the old .doc, save it as .docx in Word first.

Are files uploaded?

No. Parsing happens locally in your browser; document content is not sent to any server.
